After a dissapointing campaign in Strikeforce, Joe Gutta signs with Pride FC where he believes he’ll be champion. Gutta’s mma record is 18-5, but he was 6-3 in Strikeforce. Joe has displayed lightning fast hands and an outstanding standup game, but has failed to develop the grappling aspect of mixed martial arts. Without ground defense, he stands no chance to be Strikeforce champion. In front of him were Jake Shields and Jacare Souza, whom he already lost to via tapout. Eventually Joe Gutta will have to improve his jiu jitsu, because all 5 of his mma losses has come by submission.
Joe Gutta began his career in Renegade Fighting League where he smoked all 5 of his opponents via tko or submission. After winning the championship in the Renegade Fighting League, Joe moved on to Liga De Combate where he finished 7-2 before eventually winning the belt. Although he became champion, his limited ground skills were exposed and the fighters in Strikforce took notice.
When Joe signed with Strikeforce he smoked everyone that tried to stand with him, but everything went south after the #1 contenders fight against Peyton Pattison. Pattison immediately took Gutta to the ground and submitted him in seconds. Joe worked his way up again, but was submitted by Jake Shields and Jacare Souza in a championship fight.
Entering Pride FC, Joe Gutta will be a hot prospect and can quickly move up the rankings, but can he survive the grapplers? Starting from the bottom, Joe will be unranked and there are a lot of grapplers that will be there waiting to welcome him to Pride FC.
His first fight will be at Pride FC 3 against an unknown opponent.
